Talk about the key points of purchasing fiber optic jumpers,The optical fibers of optical fiber jumpers mainly include OM1,OM2,OM3,OM4 multimode and OS2 single mode.The connector types of optical fiber jumpers also include SC,ST,FC,LC,MTRJ and E2000.There is no fixed choice for these in actual application,and they need to be selected according to the actual interface conditions of the equipment in their own engineering projects.How to choose the right fiber patch cord for your network?Fiber Optic Patch Cord tells you to follow the following steps:
1.Fiber optic connector type
Different connectors are used for different devices,and optical fiber jumpers with MPO,SC,FC,LC,and ST interfaces are commonly used.
MPO type optical fiber jumper:used for the connection of 40G and 100G optical modules and high-density data centers;
2.LC type optical fiber jumper:used for the connection of SFP optical modules,it uses a modular jack,and this kind of jumper is generally used on routers;
3.SC type optical fiber jumper:connected to GBIC optical module,its shell is rectangular,fastening method is plug-in latch type,no need to rotate,generally used in router switches;
4.FC type optical fiber jumper:the external reinforcement method adopts a metal sleeve,and the fastening method is a turnbuckle,which is generally used on a distribution frame;
ST-type optical fiber jumper:the shell is round,and the fastening method is a turnbuckle,which is generally used on the distribution frame.
2.Fiber type
The single-mode fiber jumper uses 9/125um fiber,and the multi-mode fiber jumper uses 50/125um or 62.5/125um fiber.Single-mode fiber jumpers are mainly used for long-distance data transmission,and multi-mode fiber jumpers are mainly used for short-distance transmission.The sheath of the general single-mode fiber jumper is yellow,while the multi-mode fiber jumper is divided into OM2(orange),OM3(water blue),OM4(purple)OM5(apple green).
3.Connector grinding method
Different grinding methods determine the optical fiber transmission quality,the color of PC/UPC is blue,and the color of APC is green.
PC(Physical Contact),physical contact.PC is micro-spherical grinding and polishing,the surface of the ferrule is ground into a slightly spherical surface,and the fiber core is located at the highest bending point,which can effectively reduce the air gap between the fiber optic components and make the two fiber end faces reach physical contact.
UPC(Ultra Physical Contact),Ultra Physical Contact.The end face of the UPC connector is not completely flat,there is a slight curvature to achieve a more precise docking.On the basis of PC,UPC has optimized the end face polishing and surface finish,and the end face looks more dome-shaped.
APC(Angled Physical Contact),the physical contact of the inclined plane,the end face of the optical fiber is usually ground into an 8°inclined plane.The 8°angle bevel makes the fiber end face tighter and reflects the light through its bevel angle to the cladding instead of returning directly to the light source,providing better connection performance.
The typical insertion loss of PC,UPC and APC connectors is less than 0.3dB,UPC/PC is easier to achieve low insertion loss due to the smaller air gap.The return loss of PC is-45dB,the return loss of UPC is generally-50dB(or even higher),and the return loss of APC industry standard is-60dB.
4.Material of fiber optic jumper protective sleeve
Usually fiber optic jumpers are made of PVC and LSZH.
PVC(Polyvinyl chloride)polyvinyl chloride material is flammable and produces toxic gas,so it is not suitable for indoor application,and the price is low.
LSZH(Low Smoke Zero Halogen)low-smoke zero-halogen material has good environmental protection and flame retardant performance,but the price is relatively expensive.
Kevlar(KEVLAR),which is used for body armor,is also commonly used as a protective film for optical fibers.Kevlar has good flexibility,and has permanent heat-resistant and flame-retardant properties,which can well protect optical fibers from damage,but the price is relatively expensive.
When you choose an optical fiber jumper,you need to consider not only the actual length,but also the reliability of the material,and more importantly,the transmission rate and loss of the optical fiber.During the use of fiber optic jumpers,care should be taken to protect the end face of the ferrule to prevent damage.Remember to put on the dust cap in time after disassembly.The laser signal cannot look directly at the end face of the fiber during transmission.
